Beware The Moral Hazard

If a Consumer employs an Agent to plan their gas and/or electric energy services on their behalf, the Agent may be motivated to pursue his or her own ends, not the Consumer's. 

They may be tied to particular suppliers or have interests in offering a procurement strategy to you that would not be the most cost effective.

To protect against this "moral hazard", the Buyer should review suppliers independently or tie an Agent’s payment to presenting a number of different options fitting different procurement strategies.
